The Life Of A Wedding photographer

It's exciting to be a wedding photographer. You can have the cake and eat it too! But, things can become thorny if you don't take care of certain points. Let's take the example of Katie. She's a photographer and fond of clicking wedding pictures. She has been in this profession for the last 10 years and has attended thousands of weddings.

A Wedding Photographer's Secrets

The rule of thumb of wedding photography is a high level of interaction. You can't remain cocooned in your shell and become a wedding photographer. You need to meet people, develop social skills, and have the knack to identify opportunities, if you're serious about this profession. Building a rapport with your clients is the first thing to do.

Katie loves exchanging photos with her clients. This gives her an idea of what exactly the clients want. It also helps the client to know her style of photography. Some clients may want a special wedding photo frame. Only when you talk to your clients in advance would you know about their likes and how they would actually want to be captured by the camera.

Katie works on weekends. Sometimes, she works on both weekends and Sundays. When you calculate the number of weekends and Sundays in a year, it comes to 96 weddings per year. Let's round it up to 100 weddings. This is the average number of weddings that Katie attends as a wedding photographer. She might cancel a few of them, in case of mid-week work. This usually happens when she gets Korean or Japanese clients. Usually, they marry in mid-week.

Doesn't 100 clients sound too much? If you're a professional wedding photographer and know what you're doing, this isn't too much work. And, mind you, Katie works only on weekends. So, she has the whole week to arrange for her project, talk to her clients, visit the place, decide the wedding photo frame, and carry out other similar tasks to make her project successful. She believes in going an extra mile to make the couple happy.

Qualities of A Photographer

Remember, photography is a profession where you can't afford to provide second-rate service. You have to be excellent. A photograph is either good or bad. It's not the number, but the quality of photographs that makes you a successful wedding photographer. To build clientele, you need to be reliable and superior in your work. That includes arriving at the venue on time, having all the necessary stuff that ia ready-to-use with you, and showing your excellent etiquettes during the occasion. Thus, it's not just the dark room where you need to display your fine skills.

So, if you're thinking of earning a living by becoming a wedding photographer, it's time to brush not only your camera, but also your social skills.
