Organic Reception Dinner

Are you currently in the midst of, or soon going to begin planning for your wedding reception extravaganza? Perhaps you are wondering just what to provide your guests for a healthy dinner that will be on the green and sustainable side and also possibly introduce your wedding attendees to some vegetarian cuisine which may actually have them converting later on. Here are some of the possible considerations you will likely want to include in your planning process to ensure that your reception and your guests are as happy in a green and sustainably healthy way as possible.

Organic

Organic, organic, organic. It's becoming quite a marketing term lately and it is truly wonderful when done properly. It should be noted that there are various standards of organic and when you are choosing organic ingredients you should be aware of the level of organic you are actually choosing from if it is of interest to you. USDA Organic in the US is not nearly the highest standard of organic and many proponents of organic food prior to that standard being placed were rather upset that the USDA seemed to decide it would basically redefine the concept to allow big business which had no prior interest in environmental or organic products to simply switch over with very little change in their ways of farming relative to organic farms which had operated according to much more stringent organic standards which had already been set by California organic foods acts. That said, you should by all means have organic foods at your reception if at all possible. You will likely notice a rather amazing quality about how generally more vibrant the produce will appear and how tasty the food will be.

Non-GMO

Non-GMO means non-genetically modified organism. This means that anything you buy labeled Non-GMO should not contain any foods which have been altered genetically by science without any extensive testing on humans. GMO foods are basically genetically altered foods which are tested as they are sold. This means that the testing process is being done on consumers. Anyone who understands this can easily realize that this is a rather unwise practice and that much more research should be done prior to altering the food humans eat. There are rather extreme forms of GMO which are not appropriate to discuss in the context of wedding plans and so just keep in mind that you don't likely want to be ingesting any GMO products and it is even possible that GMO will be outlawed on a global scale at some point.

Locally Grown Produce

In addition to your produce and other ingredients being organic, it should be noted that produce grown in a radius of say, 50 miles, is an excellent way to also stay green and contribute to sustainability for your dinner plans at your special wedding reception. Support local farmers and cut down on fuel and transportation costs.

Hopefully this has been enough to provide you with an appropriate starting point for planning your truly wonderful green and sustainably happy wedding reception dinner.
